In this exhibition, lithographer Frank Haafkes explores new possibilities within lithographic art through experimentation. He invited painter Karin Hoogesteger to participate as part of this research. Using various materials and techniques, they challenge the conventional boundaries of lithography, and now they present the result of their investigation and collaboration.
The genesis of this presentation stems from the project “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” initiated by platform BKO, Province of Overijssel. The goal of this pilot project is to foster experimentation and interdisciplinary exchange, involving various art centers in the region, including the Drawingcentre in Diepenheim. Frank was approached by the Möllerwerf as an artist from Hengelo.
Frank, with his expertise in lithography, and Karin, with her painterly vision, have utilized the lithographic stone as a canvas for their joint exploration of landscapes. sometimes veering into abstract realms.
Through experiments with drawing, ink, and other sometimes unconventional materials, they invite viewers to witness the evolution of this research and their artistic dialogue—a conversation that transforms this ancient craft into a contemporary medium.
