In the group exhibition ZWERFDRIFT EN DRADENDRANG, Judith Schepers shows an overview of her work and that of twelve fellow artists whose work enters into a dialogue with hers in terms of content and visuals.
Zwerfdrift (Wandering Drift) refers to the desire for wanderings, preferably wanderings through wild nature. The urge to take side paths, to get lost, and then to find something. It is an impulse that Judith Schepers often feels, and traces of which can be found in her work.
But Schepers also draws her inspiration from myths and stories. “A story touches something deep and I stir it. I mix it with other stories and then associate further.” On another level, she thinks about how to weave the world back together, now that it is in danger of falling apart due to individualism – because we no longer believe in the same stories. Dradendrang (Thread Urge).
At the invitation of Schepers, twelve other visual artists will also show their work in the ACEC Café. Schepers: “I think that the work of these colleagues, intertwined with mine, will produce interesting new stories.”
